Breezy HR was named in 5 of 6 answers when we asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity for the best applicant tracking systems. No product was named in all six. BambooHR and Greenhouse came next at 4 of 6 each, and five more sat at 3 of 6: Ashby, JazzHR, Manatal, Pinpoint and Zoho Recruit. We ran six buyer-style questions on 2026-08-01 and counted every product each assistant named, plus every domain behind the answers.
The shortlist moved with the question
Breezy HR was in five of the six answers, then vanished from one: "best applicant tracking systems for small teams." That answer named a different roster, BambooHR, 100Hires, JazzHR, AvaHR, Zoho, VIVAHR, Talexio and Enginehire, and four of those (100Hires, VIVAHR, Talexio and Enginehire) appeared in no other answer. Small-team phrasing did not filter the general list, it replaced it. For a vendor built for small teams, that matters: the general best-ATS pages are the wrong target, because the small-team answer was assembled from its own sources and its own eight names.
The bare name "Zoho" was one of those small-team-only names, counted once and kept separate from Zoho Recruit (3 of 6). We list them as two rows because the assistants named them as two products, which leaves that single "Zoho" mention fragile on its own.
BambooHR (4 of 6) was named for best, small teams, what should I use and most affordable, missing only the free question. Greenhouse (4 of 6) covered best, what should I use, most affordable and recommendations, skipping both free and small teams. The 3-of-6 cluster split by intent: Ashby took best, what should I use and recommendations and never appeared for free or affordable; JazzHR took small teams, what should I use and most affordable; Manatal and Pinpoint each took best, most affordable and recommendations; Zoho Recruit took best free, most affordable and recommendations.
The free and affordable questions each surfaced names that appeared nowhere else. Best free named Zoho Recruit (3 of 6), the free pick named most often, and Breezy HR, then Loxo, MightyRecruiter, Applisights and Tracker, each named once and only in that answer. Most affordable named Breezy HR and Zoho Recruit alongside Pinpoint, Greenhouse, BambooHR, Manatal, JazzHR and JuggleHire, with JuggleHire (1 of 6) appearing only there.
The consultative "what applicant tracking systems should I use" answer named Breezy HR, Greenhouse, BambooHR, Ashby, Lever and JazzHR, and it was the only answer to name iCIMS and Gem, both at 1 of 6. iCIMS is one of the biggest enterprise names in this category, and one phrasing out of six was all that pulled it in.
Further down, AvaHR (2 of 6) showed up only for small teams and free, Lever (2 of 6) only for best and what should I use, and Teamtailor (2 of 6) for best and recommendations. In all, the three assistants named 24 products across the six questions, and 13 of them were named exactly once. A single mention is not a pattern, it is one answer out of six, so a buyer who asked any of the other five questions would never see those 13 names. Eight names carry these answers and the other sixteen are close to noise: a product outside that top eight showed up in two answers at most, and usually in just one.
Two sites fed every answer, and neither sells an ATS
reddit.com and technologyadvice.com each fed all 6 answers, a forum and a software-comparison site, neither of them a vendor. quora.com and zapier.com each fed 4 of 6. peoplemanagingpeople.com, theundercoverrecruiter.com and vendordirectory.shrm.org each fed 3. Reddit and Quora both showed up, g2.com appeared once (only in the small-team answer), and Capterra did not appear at all. Eleven domains in total appeared in just one answer each, including facebook.com, youtube.com, sparkhire.com and myshortlister.com.
Vendor domains barely registered. The five that appeared, lever.co, enginehire.io, gem.com, jugglehire.com and loxo.co, each appeared exactly once, and only in the single answer that named the matching product: enginehire.io fed the small-team answer that named Enginehire, loxo.co fed the best-free answer that named Loxo, gem.com fed the what-should-I-use answer that named Gem, jugglehire.com fed the most-affordable answer that named JuggleHire, and lever.co fed the best answer that named Lever. No vendor domain repeated across questions, while reddit.com sat in all six.
The supporting cast shuffled by question. The broad best answer drew on technologyadvice.com, reddit.com, vendordirectory.shrm.org, peoplemanagingpeople.com, lever.co, youtube.com and myshortlister.com. Best free dropped youtube.com and brought in quora.com and giighire.com next to loxo.co, keeping the two anchors. The small-team answer was the outlier, pulling uschamber.com, g2.com and enginehire.io in with reddit.com and technologyadvice.com, and its product list diverged to match.
Getting named means getting onto those pages
Market share is not what gets a product named, the source list is. iCIMS has one of the largest installed bases in applicant tracking and was named once (1 of 6), because it barely surfaced in the reddit.com and technologyadvice.com threads these answers were built from. Breezy HR led at 5 of 6 by being present in those two anchor sites for almost every question, not by any measure of size.
So getting named means getting onto the pages the answers pull from: the Reddit threads and technologyadvice.com round-ups that rank for these six questions, plus quora.com and zapier.com at 4 of 6 each. quora.com and reddit.com are user-written, so your name gets in when a real person types it into a comment when someone asks what to use, not by standing up a subreddit, while technologyadvice.com and vendordirectory.shrm.org are editorial, so inclusion runs through their criteria. If small teams are your market, g2.com and uschamber.com fed the small-team answer (g2.com in that one only, uschamber.com in two of the six), so those are the pages to win for that phrasing.
A vendor's own domain, on its own, was never enough. The five vendor pages that got cited each appeared in exactly one answer, always next to reddit.com and technologyadvice.com, and never carried the product into a second question. Publishing on your own site does little here until third-party pages the assistants already read start naming you.

Glotier does not sell an applicant tracking system, so it is correctly absent from all six answers, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. This is the same measurement we run for your own category: the six questions across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, the products they name and the domains behind them. The check is free, no account, about a minute.
